I LIKE THAT THIS EXISTS LIST: TOP SLASHER MOVIES

1) BLACK CHRISTMAS (1974): Olivia Hussey and Margot Kidder star. Unbearably creepy third act. Highly influential.
2) HALLOWEEN (1978): Expertly paced. Simple, scary, effective story. Fantastic synth score. Jamie Lee!
3) TOURIST TRAP (1979): Telekinetic mannequins! Bizarre concept. Creepy atmosphere. Highly influenced House of Wax remake.
4) THE BURNING (1981): Primarily known for its infamous "raft scene" that has to be seen to be believed. Co-stars a young Jason Alexander.
5) FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2 (1981): The first one with Jason. Genuinely scary opening scene. Un-PC wheelchair death. Girl pisses herself hiding under the bed.
6) HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME (1981): Death by shish-kabob. Hilariously convoluted twist ending. Awesome end credits song.
7) MY BLOODY VALENTINE (1981): Killer's disguise is great. Surprisingly effective love triangle subplot. Creepy setting.
8) A NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST. (1984): Wildly inventive. "I'm your boyfriend now, Nancy!" Jonny Depp's bed death. Freddy's big debut.
9) CANDYMAN (1992): Haunting Philip Glass score. A-List acting. Clever blend of race relations and urban legends. Tony Todd's voice.
10) WES CRAVEN'S NEW NIGHTMARE (1994): Clever, meta concept. The return of scary Freddy. Heather Langenkamp!
11) SCREAM (1996): Ushered in a new era of self-aware slashers. Drew Barrymore's opening death scene. Proved that horror movies could be funny and scary.
12) URBAN LEGEND (1998): The best of the Scream rip-offs. Creepy/funny opening scene. Tara Reid's a good screamer. Rebecca Gayheart plays crazy convincingly.
13) I STILL KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER (1998): Misunderstood camp classic. Jump scares galore. Gotta love Jennifer Esposito. Brandy!
14) THE HILLS HAVE EYES (2006): Best of the remakes. Great cinematography. Epic score by tomandandy. Horrific father burning/sister raping/sister-mother killing scene.
15) ALL THE BOYS LOVE MANDY LANE (2008): High school melodrama that becomes a slasher film. Thoughtfully written characters. Bitchy, sexy, drug-filled drama. Amber Heard is gorgeous.
